U.S.A Trip

April 29, 2018

Well, here I am in Dallas, Texas - of all places. Been here for a week and flying to Santa Fe in New Mexico tomorrow. I visited a couple of art museums yesterday - the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center. Both were good. I found myself being drawn to particular pieces - a painting by Albert Bloch, a wonderful sculpture by George Segal, then a Rodin piece, David Smith, Anthony Caro, Diebenkorn and Giacometti. The ones that really drew me in were figurative - Pierrot by Bloch from 1911! Rush Hour by George Segal. I love the way that both artists, in their very different ways, render the humnan figure. I can feel a painting coming on.

Didn't take any pics yesterday, so here is a photo of downtown Dallas from our hotel window.
